Los Angeles International Airport Bradley Terminal - Quality Control Materials Testing
Los Angeles, California
The Tom Bradley International Terminal at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) serves 30 airlines and over 8.6 million passengers per year. With a $4.1 billion estimated construction cost, the Bradley West Project is the largest single public works project in the history of the City of Los Angeles. The project will add over 1.25 million square feet of additional space for restaurants, shops, waiting areas and customs and immigration facilities. In addition, the project will add 9 new gates that can accommodate more modern and larger jets.
MTGL is currently providing quality control, testing and inspection on all reinforced concrete, post-tension concrete, masonry, structural steel and welding, soils, concrete paving, asphalt paving, cassions, reinforcing steel and concrete placing for cassions, and fireproofing, both spray applied and intumescent.
Due to the magnitude of this project, MTGL has established and staffed a satellite office and testing lab at LAX to ensure rapid testing and response to project needs. MTGL’s team performs quality control testing on a full-time basis, including swing and third shifts.
During the 2011 project audits by Los Angeles World Airports and Walsh Austin, MTGL was described as the best laboratory they had ever seen. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid 2013.
